Down but not out at the 2009 London Marathon

Recently appointed to develop Shooting Star’s online strategy and new website, Kodu has been supporting our new client charity by Paul Harrison (Creative Director) entering the 2009 London Marathon.

Paul’s aim was to break the 4 hour finish mark, but unfortunately the intense heat of the spring sun got the better of him at the 25 mile mark as he took a bit of a nasty turn and needed medical help due to being overcome by dehydration. This was a real shame as Paul was on track with 1.2 miles to go to break the 4 hour finish mark with his running partner finishing in 3.57 mins. Paul took in some well needed fluids, had a breather and then battled on to complete the 26.2 miles and raised £1,800 for Shooting Star with this valiant effort. The good news for the Shooting Star Children’s Hospice is that Paul’s only just slightly stubborn so will be entering the Marathon again next year to achieve his ambition of a sub 4 hour time whilst providing much needed support to Shooting Star and those the charity help.

Shooting Star raised over £70,000 from donations raised from it’s 50 runners at 2009 London Marathon. Well done them! To read more go to: www.shootingstar.org.uk/content/view/120/
